North Shields Cultural Quarter
Welcome to my new bakery school in the Cultural Quarter of North Shields — the North East's first dedicated bakery & cookery school. Whether you know your ganache from your buttercream or you're picking up a piping bag for the first time, there's a class here for you.

Why come here

Benches are limited so everyone gets Emma's attention, a proper turn on the mixer, and time to ask the awkward questions. No queueing behind twenty other people.

Boxed up with the recipe card so you can make it again on Sunday. No polite nibble at the end and a photograph for the fridge.

Contact Emma if you would like to discuss baking without allergens. Although strictly there aren't any guarantees, it's advisable to discuss requirements BEFORE booking a class.

About Emma
I'm Emma — originally from County Durham, trained in French classical patisserie, and back home in the North East after more than twenty years in the Channel Islands. I've spent my career learning how good pastry really works, and now I get to share it.
In 2010 my Light as a Feather Sticky Toffee Pudding won three golds at the Great Taste Awards at Fortnum & Mason, and went on to be stocked by Waitrose, with kind words from Rick Stein, Cyrus Todiwala, Tony Singh OBE and Grace Dent along the way.
Bake with EmmaKind words
★★★★★Emma had everything laid out beautifully and talked us through every step. I came in nervous about pastry and left with a box of the best croissants I have ever eaten.
Sarah T, Whitley Bay
★★★★★Booked it as a birthday present for my mam and ended up going with her. Genuinely the nicest few hours we have spent together in ages, and the pudding was gone by teatime.
James R, Tynemouth
